A laundry house found in several large houses during the Company era. It was usually located in the backyard. In this unroofed place, a large wooden cask and bailer is provided. This type of place was often called mandihok (shower enclosure). Until 1804, not all houses of the Dutch in Batavia had their own shower enclosures or laundry houses. Even until the middle of the 20th Century, many houses in the Netherlands still did not have toilets.
