Education observers, Arief Rahman said the measures taken the city government 12-year compulsory education policy in 2013 is remarkable.


"The policy in favor of education is a long term investment. Compulsory education 12 years that I think is incredible," said Arief, the launch of the Journal of Educational Jakarta, at City Hall on Monday (20/2).


According to Arief, education in Jakarta today is enjoyed by its citizens. Even the lower economic strata of society are also able to send their children to college. "The budget for education in Jakarta it reached 26.41 percent of the total budget was incredible," he said.


With a large budget, it is hoped the city government can solve all educational problems. Arief mentioned, the problem of education itself, there are four, namely quality, participation, quality of teachers, and equity. Thus obtained is not only the quantity but the quality is good.


According to Arief in Jakarta despite the high graduation rate which reached 99.9 percent,but the city government should not be quickly satisfied. "We should not be satisfied with the quantity but also look at quality," he added.


On the same occasion the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo, also get Penganugrahan Community Education Award 2012 from the Community Education Forum in Jakarta. The award was given because of the many policy Bowo, in favor of education.


Deputy Minister for Population, Control, and the Settlement of Jakarta, said Syahrul Effendi, conducted by the city government has been based on the commitment of the meaning of education for the preparation of the next generation. "The award is given to the governor would have done a careful study and proper consideration," he said.
