GEOGRAPHY
Covering
the area of 145.73 km2, south Jakarta consists
of 65 subdistricts and 65 districts. At the early
of Independence, south Jakarta was planned to
be the sateliite city (Kebayoran Baru area) and
by using the oriental concept it is marked with
four major streets spreading to four corners to
integrate the big-size houses and the small-size
houses in every blocs; the big ones located outside
the bloc, at the banks of the main streets and
the small ones are inside the blocs surrounding
the park. This part of the blocs are currently
getting more crowded. In addition, this area functions
as the Jakarta ground water buffer, which however
becomes bad since many buildings are built and
the open green belt shortage. Besides the housing
complex, the shopping centres becomes other facilities
making this area attractive.
INDUSTRY
In
the industrial sector, The south Jakarta Mayoralty
develops the small-scaled industries, free from
pollution and enviromentally horizon. This area
also owns some industrial centres from different
tyes of commodities such as food and clothes,
handicraft (furniture, shoes/sandals, cakes and
crackers. The percentage target for the selective
warehouse and industrial area is 0.01% of the
Jakarta width.
TOURISM
The
south Jakarta Mayoralty posseses the favorite
and the well-known tourist objects, namely the
Ragunan zoological garden and Babakan lake. The
latest, however, recently only functions as the
irrigation, fishing and swimming spots and the
small boats anchorage. In the future the lake
is planed to be tourist object.
TRANSPORTATION
The
land transportation becomes the main transportation
in south Jakarta, such as bus, Mikrolet (mini
bus), taxi and train.
